The Nest Refugee Home welcomes refugee claimants with the love of God into our home, lives, and community β providing transitional housing, friendship, and connection to resources.
We are a ministry of Owen Sound Alliance Church dedicated to welcoming refugee claimants with the love of God into our home, lives, and community. We provide transitional housing and connection to friendship, support, and resources within our community.
Through prayer, donations, and active involvement, the church creates a safe and welcoming environment where newcomers are supported and able to access the resources they need. This ministry allows us, the church, to extend practical care and community to those starting a new life in Canada.
The Nest is more than just a house β it is a place of belonging, hope, and new beginnings for people who have journeyed far and need a community to call home.
Join Our CommunityWe believe every person deserves dignity, safety, and community. The Nest lives out this belief in four practical ways.
We provide a safe, warm home for refugee claimants while they navigate their new life in Canada and work toward stable, long-term housing.
Newcomers are welcomed into the fabric of our community β sharing meals, friendships, and life alongside church families and neighbours.
We connect residents with essential resources including legal aid referrals, employment support, language programs, and social services.
Prayer is the foundation of everything we do. We uphold our residents and volunteers in prayer, trusting God to guide each journey.
"Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young β a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God."Psalm 84:3 NIV
Whether you give financially, give your time, or lift us up in prayer β every act of support matters deeply.
Your financial gift helps cover housing costs, household needs, transportation, and the everyday essentials that make a house feel like home.
All donations go directly to supporting the residents of The Nest and keeping this ministry running.
We are always looking for warm, welcoming people to walk alongside our residents. Volunteering can look many different ways β you bring the heart, we'll find the fit.
Consistent, faithful prayer is one of the most powerful ways you can support The Nest. Pray for our residents' safety, peace, legal processes, and sense of belonging.
Pray for our volunteers and for God's provision for this ministry.
We are especially looking for people who can help with the following:
Whether you are a refugee claimant looking for support, a community member wanting to help, or a church wanting to learn more about this ministry β please reach out.
